Motuihe Island was the place to be on Saturday 13 December, as cruising sailors and powerboaties came together for a relaxed and social afternoon ashore. Four yachts and four motor yachts made the trip, creating a great mix of boats and people for Rally Number 2 of the season.
With all of the motor yachts coming onto the beach, the gathering quickly turned into a classic summer-style beach BBQ. It was a true BYO affair, with everyone contributing food, drinks, and good vibes, making for an easy-going and inclusive atmosphere. Crews mingled, swapped stories, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of being off the boats and together on the sand.
Commodore David Blakey and Chair of the House Hamish Williams were on hand for the event, helping round out a successful rally and adding to the strong sense of community that continues to build this season. A special thanks goes to Bruce from Black Pearl, who kindly picked up the crew from Mustang Sally, ensuring everyone could make it ashore.
The afternoon wrapped up with prize giving, rounding off a memorable day that perfectly captured the spirit of the cruising programme, bringing sailors and powerboaties together to enjoy great company, great locations, and the shared love of being on the water.
