Newport, RI – The 2025 Team Racing World Championships are underway and the Kiwi Team Racing team finished off with three wins and three losses.
But that’s ok – there is a long way to go in this event where teams of two boats race against another two. 2v2. Not the 3v3 that we’re all used to in Team Racing.
Reuben Corbett and Jordan Stevenson are the sailors on the helms for the Kiwis, and while the teams found the day challenging, they also loved the racing.
“The team went 3-3. We had a tough one against the British to start the regatta off, then two unfortunate ones against the Irish and Sweeds. We definitely made some some silly mistakes, but overall we’re feeling good in the boat,” said Jordan.
“The races are very interesting racing. This won’t be over until the fat lady sings.”
Team member Oliver Loyd piped up and said “It was a wet and gloomy day and the breeze went from 15 knots down to nothing!”
The Kiwis beat out Bermuda SA, the Italian Team and Team Argentina. They lost to Baltimore SC, Gamla Stans (SWE) and West Kirby Hawks.
Racing continues tomorrow.
