The 150th Anniversary Reforestation Project has become one of the Squadron’s most significant environmental legacies. It has only been possible through the generosity of members who contributed to the project, together with the dedicated group of volunteers who have continued to care for and maintain the planting over many years.

As ownership of the property changes, the Squadron’s volunteers will naturally step back from the ongoing maintenance of the site. However, the trees they planted and nurtured will remain, continuing to enhance the landscape and natural environment at Kawau for generations to come.

To recognise the generosity of those who supported the project, the commemorative donor plaques will be carefully removed and relocated to the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The intention is to install them within the gardens adjacent to the Ballroom, where they will continue to acknowledge the members whose contributions helped create this enduring legacy.
